Corn Exchange, Melrose Market Place
The main building here of 3 storeys and a crow stepped gable is the Corn Exchange of 1863 by David Cousin, in a Scottish Jacobean style and with carved ornamentation over doorways and some windows. The plainer building to the left is the library, whilst that to the right is constructed of local red sandstone.

Later 19th century, 2 storey, 5 bay, red sandstone, stugged ashlar with polished dressings, consoled centre doorpiece, and door at extreme right hand bay, chamfered angles at openings moulded eaves-course, slated roof, rectangular corniced end-stack. large cast-iron clock on ornamental bracket at 1st floor, erected 1892 in memory of John Meikle, physician and surgeon.
