Memorial to the women and children affected by the 1881 East Coast Fishing Disaster
The bronze statue is located in the public garden created in a former burial ground off Eyemouth High Street. The figures of women and children on top of the tall bronze plinth are depicted looking out to sea as they would have stood and looked for their husbands returning from sea. A plaque on the wall behind the memorial reads: Bronze by Jill Watson Commissioned by the people of Berwickshire to commemorate the women and children left by the East Coast Fishing Disaster of 1881.
