Berwickshire Architecture : Crowstepped House at Croft Road, Cockburnspath
Seen from the junction of Croft Road and the main street in Cockburnspath, this substantial but run-down old house contrasts with the more recent residential area built around it to the south and west.

Berwickshire Architecture : Crowsteps at Croft Road, Cockburnspath
This unexpected rambling relic, found in an otherwise neat residential area of Cockburnspath, looks to me like an old Highland shooting lodge that has been lifted up and dumped hundreds of miles from home. Any moment now the head stalker or the ghillie will step out of that middle door clad in tweed suit and deerstalker.

Berwickshire Architecture : Cockburnspath Church Hall (former Free Presbyterian Church)
According to the man about to cut the grass, this building - now used as a church hall associated with the not so nearby St Helen's Church (Church of Scotland) - was once the Free Presbyterian Church (the dour, grim and God-fearing "Wee Frees").
