The churches of Stow
In the foreground can be seen the remains of Stow Old Parish Church and in the background the replacement church can be seen. The busy A7 can be seen on the right.

New house building at Stow
The new houses in the mid ground are being erected in front of Stagehall Farm. The large roofed building to the left of centre is Stow Primary School with the health centre in front. Viewed in February from the B6362 road to Lauder.

Wedale View, Stow
A short, new street of about 20 new houses [ca. 2008], just to the west of the new railway. Wedale is another name for the valley of the Gala Water.

The railway's back at Stow (2)
Lengths of rail on a train of flatbed wagons at Stow Station about to be offloaded and secured to the sleepers. It is over 40 years since the track was removed after the Waverley Line closed in the late 1960s. Offloading new rails at Stow Station
A pair of 108m lengths of rail being winched off the train by the track placing machine. The rails are secured to the sleepers allowing the train to advance and repeat the process. Subsequent steps are welding, ballasting and tamping the lines until the railway is laid ready for regular use. The Borders Railway is due to begin operation in September 2015.
