Now that?s what I call a stick!
I couldn’t resist taking a photo when this dog appeared carrying a sizeable piece of wood on the Galashiels to Melrose cycle and walking route on the former Peebles branch railway line. I asked the walkers if it was alright to take a photograph and remarked that I wouldn’t fancy playing fetch the stick. They said the dog often carries bigger pieces of timber – sounds like the Forestry Commission could be interested!

The Old Galashiels-Peebles Railway Line
This old line is now a footpath from the town to the Peebles road near Torwoodlee. This open area in the woodland will be beautiful in a few weeks' time, when the hawthorn blossom should be in full bloom.
