Built in 1930, this large public house stands on the Taunton Road in Bridgwater and was the scene of the photographer's first stag night party in 1987.

The Hope Inn, Bridgwater
Viewed across the A38 Taunton Road from the corner of Southgate Avenue. The year 1930 is below the name sign on the corner. Boards on the wall show that there is en-suite B&B accommodation,
a function room and a skittle alley.

All Hope is going
The Hope Inn looks like it has suffered a fire, but the missing roof is a deliberate act. The pub owners closed it and are looking to replace it with a new residential development. In order to circumvent continued local opposition to the clearance, the work of demolition was started. It will soon be completed.
