Crowcombe: West Somerset Railway near Stogumber Station
A train leaving Stogumber for Crowcombe Heathfield and Bishop’s Lydeard. The railway has climbed 85m from sea level but the summit at Crowcombe is a further 30m up on gradients of 1 in 100 or steeper. Note: a Photographer’s Lineside Pass has to be obtained from the railway’s office at Minehead for shots such as this on railway property

West Somerset Railway, Stogumber
This is the view south from the platform at Stogumber station towards Taunton. The line between Taunton and Minehead was one of the last of the Beeching era closures, surviving until 1971; it was then reopened in stages between 1976 and 1979 and is now Britain's longest heritage railway.
