Dulverton Station ? 1963
A Barnstaple to Taunton train arrives during a downpour. The loco is 2-6-0 no.7304, a type which was in common use on minor cross-country lines like this. The station was the junction station for the Exe Valley line, but was a good 2 miles from the town itself. The buildings survive as a private residence http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/5624751 .

Former Dulverton Station
Seen from a bridge over the dismantled railway line. The stationmaster's house and goods shed were built by the Devon and somerset Railway and opened in 1873. The Exe Valley Railway also had its terminus here. The station is actually about 2 miles south of Dulverton and in Brushford.

Dulverton railway station
A general view of Dulverton station on the line from Taunton to Barnstaple. The station was about 2 miles from the town it served. On the left is a push-pull train for the Exe Valley line to Exeter, showing the cab from which the driver controlled the train, while the engine pushed from the rear. The Exe Valley line closed in October 1963, while Dulverton station closed with the Taunton - Barnstaple line in October 1966.

Dulverton Station, Brushford
The ex-GWR Barnstaple line closed in 1966. By 1991 the station buildings had been leased to the nearby Carnarvon Arms Hotel, converted to flats & used for staff accommodation. As part of this conversion the open fronted passenger waiting area seems to have been unsympathetically bricked up with concrete blocks. The building was sold c2005 & converted to a single house. This second conversion replaced the concrete blocks as is shown in my 2009 view of Image
