Dodmore Lane itself is a much older route, starting with this section, before turning right along what is now Lacy Road and then turning into a path (see Image, Image and Image) which originally ended just beyond the current Ludlow bypass, but now truncated by that road.

Dodmore.
New town housing estate, behind St Peter's. Ludlow is largely on two hills, The old town around the castle and St Lawrences' (that's where you find the tourists) and the new town on a hill to the east. This was largely settled in the 20th century and expanded rapidly since the construction of the bypass in 1979 (that's where you find most of the population). The new town had a rough reputation, once featuring in a full page article in the Observer as an example of an inner city problem area.
