Hanwood station (site/remains)
View NE, towards Shrewsbury: ex-GW&LNW Joint Shrewsbury - Buttington (- Welshpool) secondary main line, junction of branch to Minsterley. The station was closed to passengers 12/9/60 (goods 4/5/64), but the line remains open for trains to Aberystwyth etc. via Buttington and Welshpool. The Minsterley branch, which joined about a half mile to the west, was closed to passengers 5/2/51, to goods 1/5/67.

Hanwood railway station (site), Shropshire
Opened in 1861 by the Shrewsbury & Welshpool Railway on the line between those places, this line was jointly owned by the Great Western and London & North Western Railway. The station closed to passengers in 1960 and completely in 1964. View north east towards Shrewsbury, from approximately the same position as Image, taken some 23 years earlier. The old station house has disappeared in the meantime and a new row of houses been built.

OS benchmark - Hanwood Bridge
An OS cutmark on one of the stone slabs forming the bridge parapet, which was last levelled by the OS in 1976 at 76.743m above Ordnance Datum Newlyn. It does however appear on the map of 1902 at 252.5ft Liverpool Datum.

Hanwood Bridge
The bridge dates from the early 19th century, and is constructed of roughly-coursed limestone & conglomerate blocks, with a limestone ashlar parapet on each side of the road. It was Grade II listed https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1055686 & https://britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/101055686-hanwood-bridge-great-hanwood in 1986.
