Above a scarp
The flat land here soon gives way to a steep wooded slope. Park Wood, Acton Burnell is in the background.

Home made sign at the farm
I didn't notice this home made sign until I had passed it. It seems that the farmer here is requesting walkers to NOT cross his farmyard during the Covid-19 lockdown - a very reasonable request I feel. I DID pass through - as I say I was already through the barrier here before I read the sign and I felt that by going back through the farm for a second time I would be breaching the farmer's wishes twice, rather than just the once. There was no one about, no risk of virus contamination as I lifted the barrier with my hand inside my sleeve, I had a mask available and I had had a fast Covid Test just 24 hours earlier with a clear result of negative. I would be gone before they knew it.

Homemade sign and barrier at the farmyard
The home made sign faces the 'wrong' way for walkers - it is not legible until you pass the barrier. I passed through, against the wishes of the farmer and I feel bad about that, but I didn't want to pass back through the farmyard twice, and then search for an alternative route (which is in fact reasonably easy to find!) spending more time on the premises than necessary...

An old Sherpa van at East Lodge, Preen Manor, Church Preen
I love to stumble across old gems like this one! Whatever happened to Sherpa Vans? I cannot recall the last time I saw a roadworthy one anyway!
