Welshpool and Llanfair railway
An enthusiasts' train pauses as it passes through the back streets of Welshpool. The photograph is taken from the cab window of the locomotive on the final approach to the terminus alongside the main line station. This length of track was abandoned when the line was later reinstated as a heritage railway.

Contains a few craft and clothing shops, just off the main shopping street. Plus the ubiquitous bunting.

Welshpool and Llanfair railway running through Town Centre. August 1964
A further view of the then disused section of the line before it was lifted through the town. Note how close the railway came to the adjacent buildings. The track here was laid on longitudinal beams with inside protective steel plates across the stream between Church Street and Brook Street.

Puzzle Square is a small modern development down the alleyways from Broad Street. Of the 3 shops here only 1 is now open which reflects the situation of many towns nowadays.

7 and 8 Union Street, Welshpool
Grade II listed building (16736)
Numbers 7-8 are a pair of early C19 houses. A datestone - probably re-sited - on the rear wing of No 7 is dated 1829.
