Everything in Aberllefeni is slate, including the steps embedded into the wall that once climbed up on to the platform of the village railway station.

Site of Aberllefenni station, 1999
View northward, towards the buffer-stops of the terminus of the narrow-gauge line from Machynlleth via Corris. This ex-Cambrian line up the Afon Dulas, which followed the A487 up to Corris, has been partially restored there. The original line had been closed by BR(WR) on 21/8/48, the passenger service having ceased from 1/1/31.

Currently being refurbished by the present owner, No 8 now has a new slate name plate "The Old Post Office." The post box in the wall indicates the earlier status of this now private house.
