Little lane heading out of Carno
Head to the hills! They look worth exploring. My first time walking in this specific area.

Rural view just above Carno village
As I walk and the landscape rises the hills come into view. It is scold day, just above freezing, but breezy and there are a few wisps of hill fog or low cloud around. It is a three-layer morning so far (base layer, fleece, down jacket, complete with two hoods up and down gloves on hands.)

Peniel, Carno Welsh Calvinistic Methodist chapel
A listed building. Its listing reads; 'This is a fine example of early twentieth century Classical design, with a gable entry plan and tall round-headed windows. It is constructed largely from snecked rock-faced stone, with ashlar dressings. It has a 3-bay pedimented gable front with a round-arched receded central bay, enclosing a tympanum with inscribed dates of foundation and building. With the exception of the tympanum and two oculi, the fenestration is all semi-circular headed, with four tall windows along the lateral elevations, a triple-headed window above the arched entrance and double headed windows flanking the 6-panelled door. The roof is of slate. The rear of the church is slate hung and leads to an attached vestry / schoolroom, built from brick with a hipped slate roof and an end stack over a gablet. The interior of the church appears to have been designed to have had a gallery, although none is in evidence today. The building was closed as a place of worship in 2002 but is Grade 2 Listed'. How can a village permit a space like this to lie fallow?

Old roadside house in Carno, once a pub
I have submitted this one before. It is an eye-catching place. Once a pub it seems and now no longer a pub. Lovely property. They do not build like this any more.

Tybrith, Carno
A sign indicates that this was a Free House. I don't know its status currently. Interesting.

Detail at the closed Laura Ashley factory, Carno
A poster left on the wall reads 'We know that we share a love of the English garden. The colours of flowers, vegetation are everlasting. Laura Ashley, 1973'. I guess that a departing employee left this on purpose. It seems to say 'What seems transitory is everlasting, what seems everlasting is just transitory'. Poignant when you consider Laura Ashley's life arc and the massive growth of her and her husband's business from the humblest of starts to where it stands now.
