Cambrian Railway works, Oswestry
The long since closed Cambrian Railway Works. Oswestry was once quite a rail centre and this works built much rolling stock and overhauled locos in addition to building a couple (or so) locos. It is now a fine antique furniture store. The chimney is a fine example - 150' tall with a square plinth and octagonal stack.
We were busy bypassing Oswestry when the chimney pulled us in siren-like.

The Carriages Bistro in Oswestry
Adjacent to the Fantastic Funhouse. Carriages is based within the Cambrian Works off Gobowen Road in Oswestry, Shropshire. The complex is formed within the old Cambrian Railways Engineering Buildings which were built in 1865, which have been converted into many businesses including a children's funhouse, antiques emporium, doctors surgery and offices.

Fantastic Funhouse soft play
The Fantastic Funhouse Soft Play centre in Oswestry. It occupies part of the former Cambrian Railways works, a Grade II listed building which closed in 1966.

Oswestry Health Centre
Located in the SW end of the former Cambrian Railways Works, Oswestry Health Centre's address is Thomas Savin Road, off Gobowen Road. The Centre opened in July 2011 as a multi-purpose outpatient healthcare centre. Services are provided by Shropshire Community Health Trust, South Staffordshire and Shropshire Mental Health Foundation Trust, The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust and Cambrian Medical Practice. A Minor Injury Unit is housed here. X-Ray services are also available.

Oswestry: former Cambrian Railway works

(It should be noted that inside the supermarket, although the town lies in Shropshire, signs are bilingual in English and Welsh: a reflection of its long status as a border town, in an area where cultural and political borders do not always coincide neatly.)
