Llynclys railway station (site), Shropshire
Opened in 1860 by the Oswestry and Newtown Railway, this became part of the Cambrian Railways main line from 1864. The station closed in 1964. View north west towards Oswestry. Behind the camera position is now the Cambrian Heritage Railway's Llynclys South station with track to Penygarreg and plans to operate from Gobowen and Oswestry - see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cambrian_Heritage_Railways .

Llynclys: former station, 2001
View northward from the B4396 bridge, towards Oswestry and Whitchurch: ex-Cambrian Railways main line Whitchurch - Oswestry - Buttington - Welshpool - Machynlleth etc., closed Whitchurch - Buttington 18/1/65. In the opposite direction is now the Cambrian Heritage Railway's Llynclys South station, opened 2005 with track to Penygarreg. In 2009, the Cambrian Railways Society and Cambrian Railways Trust combined forces and the new group plan to operate from Gobowen and Oswestry through Llys to Blodwell. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cambrian_Heritage_Railways

Llynclys Station
The station buildings, now a private house, seen from the bridge over the former Cambrian Railways main line from Oswestry to Welshpool and mid-Wales. The edge of the up platform can still be seen although the trackbed is currently filled in up to platform level and grassed over.

Rolling stock at Llynclys
Llynclys is one of the locations at which Cambrian Heritage Railways operate. The rolling stock seen in the image are literally at the 'end of the line'; beyond the bridge the rail bed has been incorporated into a garden.
