Tesco Express Brixton Road
This building was the Russell Hotel until it closed in 2003; it was in fact a pub, originally opening in 1878 although the striking façade dates from 1906. At one time there was also overnight accommodation above the bar. In the latter years the pub acquired a reputation for being rough and the building had an uncertain future before Tesco moved in, opening one of its Express stores in 2011. See http://ovalhistory.co.uk/historical-local-businesses/lost-pubs/the-russell-public-house-also-known-as-the-russell-hotel/ for a full history.

An early C19th terrace of mostly two-bay houses in three storeys. Probably built after the construction of Vauxhall Bridge in 1816 which acted as a spur to local development. Grade II listed.

Christ Church, Brixton Road SW9
This church is on the corner of Mowll Street and Brixton Road, Stockwell. It's a distinctive and attractive building in my opinion, but maintenance costs must be quite high.

91-137 Brixton Road
A fine, uniform terrace of the 1820s. Stock brick, the central group stuccoed. Mostly of three storeys, basement and later attic. First floor cast-iron balconies. Grade II listed. The area was developed on land owned by Lord Holland as part of the Lambeth Wick Estate. The opening of Vauxhall Bridge in 1816 provided the impetus.
