The very fine piers, railings and lamps outside the entrance to the museum.
The Natural History Museum, Cromwell Road, London, exhibits a vast range of specimens from various segments of natural history. It holds 80 million items within five main collections: botany, entomology, mineralogy, palaeontology and zoology. The museum originated from collections within the British Museum. The main building was opened in 1881, it was extended to the north-west in 1931 by the addition of the Whale Hall. The former Geology Museum to the north-east of 1933 was later incorporated, forming the Earth Galleries.

Natural History Museum, Kensington, London
The west wing and the central entrance steps from the railings on Cromwell Road. The building was constructed between 1873–81 in a Romanesque style with terracotta façades. The architect was the prolific and successful Alfred Waterhouse.
