Knightsbridge Tube Station Hoopers Court lower lift lobby
The lower lift lobby, about 33 metres (100 feet) below the new accessible entrance to Knightsbridge tube station in London. While the lifts themselves are new, they use the original lift shafts of the station, which have been out of use since the 1930s when the station was converted to use escalators. The rather attractive tiles here are also original, and have been renovated for the reopening of this area of the station, closed for the last 90 years.

Hoopers Court, Knightsbridge
Hoopers Court in Knightsbridge, London, England. This view is from Basil Street looking towards Brompton Road. The building on the right was part of the original Knightsbridge tube station, closed in the 1930s when the station was converted to use escalators rather than lifts, but partially reused by the 2025 accessible entrance that used the old lift shafts. The ox-blood red tiles on the lower floors are typical of a Leslie Green designed station with subsequent air-rights development above, but I think in this case are modern reproductions. The actual accessible entrance is hidden in the shadows towards the far end of Hoopers Court, with the nearby doors serving a bar.
