Entrance to Palace Road Gardens Nature Reserve
This used to be the grounds of a large house which was demolished in the early 1980s. The grounds were fenced off and landscaped, and a small pond and circular walk were created. Many trees and shrubs present in the grounds of the original house were retained. This is the view from the entrance across a small area of meadow grassland rich in flowering plants.

Doodlebug Garden, Wavertree Road
Just before midnight on 27th July 1944, a V1 landed here and killed Charles Kerby, a nearby resident living at 23 Wavertree Road. The site was neglected for many years but this garden has now been created by local residents. See a photograph at www.geograph.org.uk/photo/7487369 for a close up of the information board.

1 Palace Road
Originally known as Clinton House when it was built, probably c1884. It was the home of the writer Dennis Wheatley from 1914-30. Information from the Streatham Society (http://www.streathamsociety.org.uk/Streatham%20Society%20news%2011-09.pdf ).
Palace Road has a few surviving large late-C19th/early-C20th houses. Although this one has seen happier days, it is still attractive, possessing some typical Arts-and-Craft style flourishes - tile-hung upper storey, shell-hood porch and pargetted dormer.
