Norbury station
The Balham Hill & East Croydon line was constructed by the London Brighton & South Coast Railway as a short-cut on the Brighton Main Line to Victoria, avoiding Crystal Palace and Norwood Junction. The line was opened on 1st December 1862, but Norbury station was not opened until January 1878, as the surrounding area was quite rural. The station was rebuilt in 1903 when the lines were quadrupled. The photograph is taken from the middle platform looking up the line towards London. The two fast lines are on the left of the middle platform.
