On the right (at higher level) is the surviving single track railway on the Waterloo to Wimbledon Line.

The bridge carried the up line of a flying junction, Point Pleasant Junction, with the Point Pleasant Junction to Wimbledon line. This connection has now been singled, and occupies the former down line viaduct on the right. It is used now mainly by empty trains to Wimbledon depot, so avoiding conflicting movements at Wimbledon. A few late night and early morning scheduled passenger services also use it.

What is now the southern end of the District Line's Wimbledon branch, south from Putney, was built by the London and South Western Railway, and trains coming off this branch would pass over the main line out to Richmond by a bridge here before descending to join it. The bridge survived the takeover by London Underground and the junction remained as an option for stock movements until the mid-20th century.

The near bridge is disused as the up line of the Point Pleasant flying junction has been abandoned. The far down line bridge, just glimpsed on a converging alignment, is still in use as a single line.

Woodlands Way leads from Upper Richmond Road to Fawe Park Road under these bridges. The bridges were built by the London and South Western Railway (L&SWR) which, starting on 1 July 1889, ran its own trains over the line via an eastward-facing loop that joins the Clapham Junction to Barnes mainline. The near bridge is currently used as a shunting line from Wandsworth Town Station (heading right) to East Putney Station, used by empty stock trains or occasional diversions by Southwest Trains when the line between Wimbledon and Clapham Junction needs to be avoided. The other bridge is disused.
