Sir Abraham Dawes Cottages, Wandsworth
Abraham Dawes, a collector of customs, lived in Putney from 1620 until his death in 1640. He provided almshouses for '12 poor indigent decayed and decreped almsmen and almswomen'. They were replaced by the present buildings in Putney Bridge Road in 1861.

Putney Telephone Exchange
Situated off Montserrat Road SW15 2LA, this redbrick building has the code LSPUT, and provides telephone and broadband services to aproximately 22,665 residential and 966 non-residential premises in Putney plus Putney Heath, Putney Vale and Roehampton nearby. This TE used to have GIBbon and PUTney telephone numbers until the late 1960s, but now has 0208-780, 785, 788 and 789 xxxx numbers. Incidentally, there is a Gibbon Walk in Roehampton (TQ2275) which comprises of sixteen houses, so the former GIBbon telephone name is still in use today.

The white structure on the left is the southern end of Fulham Railway Bridge.
A check on the old Ordnance Survey maps shows that in 1874 this was Ranelagh Road, only being indicated by its current name in the 1896 Edition.
