January by Barnes Pond: an odd contrast
The big red brick building (with classical pediment) is more urban-looking than its neighbours in the area around the pond. Half a century ago the pond would (I'm sure) have been the image of suburban tidiness. Priorities change, fashions change, and the pond is now kept as (something like) a miniature nature reserve.

Wild flowers at Barnes Pond
Barnes Pond is one of the best-known features of Barnes. It has attractive surroundings and is popular with birds. The area between Church Road and the pond was brightened up with a wildflower mix in the summer of 2019. This view looks across Church Road. See also https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/6210926
