Robert's of Balham
Twenty-first century travellers through Balham station will often have noticed the 1950s lettering proclaiming "Roberts for Ekcovision" which still survives on the top of a row of shops, although the electrical goods shop which was advertised by it has now gone. This image shows the shop as it was: the precise date of the image is not known but it is thought to have been taken around 1985.

Balham: Roberts Ekcovision advertisement, from the station
Taken from a down train on platform 1. The lettering looks at least 40 years old and seems to have survived any television shop that once existed below it.

Bedford Hill
The north end of this street, north of the railway bridge, is lined with pubs, restaurants, shops. These form part of the central Balham shopping centre. Here an off licence and a large pub are very evident.

It is almost 4pm on a December afternoon and the light is rapidly fading in Balham making car headlights, traffic lights and Christmas decoration shine brightly.

Balham: The 'Bedford'
Currently hosting a comedy festival. Some years ago, this public house featured a revolving stage, which did about one revolution per minute. Whether this feature still survives I am not aware.
