The area between the railways is Culvert Place, at the end of Culvert Road. Rising leftwards out of the picture is the ramp to a footbridge over the far railway line, to Eversleigh Road.

Railway lines and Culvert Road footbridge, Clapham Junction
The lines seen here connect the West London line over the river to Shepherds Bush, with lines heading eastwards towards Waterloo or Brixton. Culvert Road burrows under most of the lines out of Clapham Junction towards the city, but passes over these low-level lines by a footbridge seen in the distance, near the travellers' site shown at Image

Railways near Clapham Junction
From a train travelling from Battersea Park to Clapham Junction. The lower level lines will shortly swing to the right under the lines to Clapham and head for the West London line over the river at Battersea church and on towards Willesden Junction; they carry freight and rolling stock from the Victoria or Brixton directions.

Culvert Place, Battersea
A hidden corner of Battersea! Reached only by this narrow tunnel under one railway, or a footbridge over another railway line (behind the camera).

Railway line, Battersea
Unusually, a goods train was passing, its nearest wagon bearing the name Hanson suggesting that it was carrying building materials. It may well have come from one of the many large construction projects in the Nine Elms area, beyond the end of the train. Trains on the bridge ahead are coming from Victoria and heading towards Clapham Junction (or vice versa). Such trains are carried over Waterloo-bound trains.
