Waiting for departure towards the Wheelock line. The number of participants wandering round on the track would raise eyebrows today, but was absolutely normal, and was usually self-policing.

Kidsgrove railway station, Staffordshire, 2011
Opened in 1848 as "Harecastle" by the North Staffordshire Railway, the station underwent numerous combinations of Harecastle and Kidsgrove before settling on "Kidsgrove Central" in 1944, then to just "Kidsgrove" in 1966. The railway lines here were electrified in 1965. This is where the Stoke-Manchester and Stoke-Crewe lines split. This view is south east on the Crewe platforms, back towards Longport and Stoke. In 2021 a new footbridge with lifts was added - see Image for an updated image.
