Tunstall Shard on Alexandra Park
This stainless steel sculpture is a stylised representation of a thumbprint upon a piece of pottery, intended to celebrate the area's historic pottery industry. (The Alexandra Park retail development, where this is sited, is built upon the site of Wedgwood Pottery's Alexandra Works.) It was created by the sculptor Robert Erskine and unveiled in January 2009. Clock tower in Victoria Park, Tunstall
The clock tower was erected in 1907, in memory of William Adams (1833-1905), owner of a pottery factory. It stands at the south-west corner of an artificial terrace known as The Battlements; this view is from below the terrace.
