This stainless steel sculpture is a stylised representation of a thumbprint upon a piece of pottery, intended to celebrate the area's historic pottery industry. (The Alexandra Park retail development, where this is sited, is built upon the site of Wedgwood Pottery's Alexandra Works.) It was created by the sculptor Robert Erskine and unveiled in January 2009. See Image] for the detail of the plaque on the plinth. In the background are Home Bargains, Iceland, and at the far right on the end of the row the Tunstall Primary Care Centre Image
