Newcastle Under Lyme Museum, Brampton
The building now occupied by Newcastle Museum and Art Gallery was originally known as 'The Firs' Built in 1854 for Thomas Leech. It was Purchased by Ralph Moseley in 1863 for the sum of £3,400 . The Moseley Brothers were drapers (est1851) in the High Street, Ralf also became the Mayor of Newcastle in 1866. The Borough Council acquired the house in 1956 for £6,325 and shortly after opened it as a museum and art gallery.
