Up express to London Euston entering Stoke-on-Trent station, 1957
View northward from the Down main platform. The 14.00 from Manchester (London Road) to Euston, which conveyed through coaches leaving Colne at 11.50 and after a circuitous journey joined the main train at Stockport, is arriving at Stoke. It is headed by rebuilt Royal Scot Class 7P 4-6-0 No. 46115 'Scots Guardsman' (built 10/27, rebuilt 8/47, withdrawn 1/66). It was the last of its class and was preserved, being now in the West Coast Railway Company's fleet at Carnforth.
