Stoke-on-Trent - Cockshutts Lock
Here, the Trent & Mersey Canal goes under the railway. The railway is itself crossed by a footbridge at the same point. To the right of the lock can just be seen a milepost (Shardlow 56 miles, Preston Brook 36 miles).

The railway track approaching Stoke-on-Trent
Taken by standing on the balance beam of the bottom gates of Cockshutts Lock on the Trent and Mersey Canal (well what else is there to do while waiting for the lock to fill but snoop on the railway?)
Looking towards Stoke-on-Trent station. Trains then go to Uttoxeter and Derby and beyond, or to Stone, Stafford, Wolverhampton and beyond.
