The White Hart in Penkridge, Staffordshire
This old public house is on the main A449 road between Wolverhampton and Stafford.
The White Hart was originally built in 1565 on the site of a manor house by Ambrose Dudley, Earl of Warwick. Both Queen Elizabeth I and Mary Queen of Scots are known to have stayed at the inn. It was refaced in the 19th century. (info: C.Thornber)
Other sources date the building a little later. The passageway through to the rear was originally in the centre bay. It is Grade II listed.
