This old public house is on the main A449 road between Wolverhampton and Stafford. The White Hart was originally built in 1565 on the site of a manor house by Ambrose Dudley, Earl of Warwick. Both Queen Elizabeth I and Mary Queen of Scots are known to have stayed at the inn. It was refaced in the 19th century. (info: C.Thornber) Other sources date the building a little later. The passageway through to the rear was originally in the centre bay. It is Grade II listed.
