Former shop at 114 Broadway, Leigh-on-Sea
The premises were occupied until fairly recently by Grove Fittings who have now relocated elsewhere in the town, and stand on the corner of Broadway (left) and Victor Drive (right). A pawnbroker's sign once hung from the bracket attached to the upper storey. It will surely only be time before the building, once at the end of a parade of shops, is demolished and replaced with flats.

Former school in Leighton Avenue, Leigh-on-Sea
From before World War II until around 1960 this building on the corner of Leighton Avenue (left) and Pall Mall (right) housed Caedmon House School which I attended between 1949-54. Progressive, even by the standards of those times, it was not; but it produced generations of pupils who by the time they were ten had reached high standards of literacy and numeracy. After the school closed the building went through many uses and is today divided into flats.
