Old Milestone on Hall Road, Rochford
Carved stone post by the UC road (was B1013), in parish of Rochford (Rochford District), Hall Road, on the verge on the East side of the road between path and road. Erected by the Rochford Hundred (Div of Essex First Dist) turnpike trust in the 19th century.
Re-located to right hand side of housing estate entrance after 2012.
Inscription reads:-

Rochford Hall
Rochford Hall now serves as the clubhouse of the Rochford Hundred Golf Club. The hall dated from medieval times and was of great size. Its owners included Sir Thomas Boleyn, Viscount Rochford, the father of Anne Boleyn. The present building represents only the north-eastern corner of the original much of which was destroyed in a fire of 1760.
