Southend-Rochford boundary
Taken from just within Southend in Cherry Orchard Way. This part of the gridsquare, until fairly recently the bleak remains of a former brickfield, now houses the Toomey Automotive Park some of which can be seen just to the left of the roundabout.

Brickworks tramway, 1989
A 2'-0" (610 mm) gauge tramway from the brick fields to Cherry Orchard Lane brickworks goes round a right angle to reach the current part of the field being dug, off to the right. The turnout is redundant at the moment. This area in now beneath Cherry Orchard Way, and the brickworks closed.
