Hamlet Road, Southend-on-Sea
Buildings on Hamlet Road are seen here from Scratton Road across the railway bridge. The Cliff public house is a former dairy and listed by the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) as a heritage pub of regional importance due to its internal mirrors and tiles. Today it is a popular gay venue.

Cambridge Road, Southend-on-Sea
This terrace on Cambridge Road dates from about 1859 and is part of the Clifftown conservation area - a Victorian estate with views over the Thames estuary whose development represented the beginnings of Southend as a seaside resort. Note the railings on the first floor balconies with their distinctive circular design.
