Gladstone Bridge, Port of Sunderland
A swing bridge which originally carried a railway track across the entrance at the northern end of Hudson Dock. The tracks either side of the bridge have been taken up. To allows ships to enter and leave Hudson Dock the bridge swings around. As there were a large number of vessels within the dock as part of the events around the start of the Tall Ships Races 2018 which was being held in the city it was obvious that the bridge still regularly opens to allow shipping to pass.
