Sign for the Buffalo Public House
The sign often indicated pubs that were frequented by members of the Friendly Society calling itself the Ancient Order of Buffaloes. This society was reestablished in 1822 as the Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes.

A different animal
This is what was for many years the Buffalo pub. Although not being a listed structure, it is within the Wyke Conservation Area.
After a recent change to becoming an Italian restaurant it has been sold. The incumbent operators cite the economic decline and health reasons for the move in January, 2023. However, a new buyer has stepped up and taken it over as a free (dog)house.

On the corner of Wyke Road and Pound Lane
A small shop, seemingly no longer in use and returned to private use on the outskirts of Gillingham. See Image] for the letterbox - perhaps indicating this may have once been a post office.

Gillingham: postbox № SP8 58, Wyke Road
This George V-reign postbox is set into the side wall of the former Wyke Post Office, which closed in 1998, but reopened in late 2001 in a shop on the modern estate a little south (see Image). It is emptied finally at 5:45pm on weekdays and at 11:30am on Saturdays.
