The plaque of the band
Above the poster is a blue plaque, marking the fortieth anniversary of a local band's topping of the U.K. charts. Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Tich had fourteen hits, six in the top five and 'The Legend of Xanadu' went to claim the top spot in 1968. Today it is slightly tinged with sadness with the recent passing of bass guitarist Trevor Ward-Davies (Dozy) on 14th January this year.

Salisbury Playhouse
Salisbury has had a theatrical facility near this spot since 1915, but was subject to much rebuilding and financial perils. A campaign was launched in 1974 to fund a new theatre at The Maltings and on 30th November, 1976, this playhouse was opened by no less a luminary than Sir Alec Guinness. Despite worries with money again in 1995, the theatre is due to embrace a new extension soon.
