Salisbury buildings [1]
This is the Crown Court room within the Guildhall at Salisbury. The court sat in this room from 1795 until 2010. The judge’s canopy is an original fitting from 1795 and The Mayor’s Chair is made of mahogany and was carved in 1796. The Guildhall was built in 1795 and is listed, grade II*, with details at: https://www.historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1242739 A cathedral was established at the Iron Age hillfort of Old Sarum by the Normans. In 1220 the cathedral was removed to the nearby plain and New Sarum (Salisbury) grew up around it, receiving a city charter in 1227. Located at the confluence of five rivers (Avon, Nadder, Ebble, Wylye and Bourne) the city is prone to flooding. Traffic between the ports of Southampton and Bristol, passes around the city's ring-road via the A36 causing much congestion.

This is the Banqueting Hall within the Guildhall at Salisbury. The hall has a fine collection of paintings, has chandeliers from 1797 and has a reputation of being haunted. The Guildhall was built in 1795 and is listed, grade II*, with details at: https://www.historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1242739 A cathedral was established at the Iron Age hillfort of Old Sarum by the Normans. In 1220 the cathedral was removed to the nearby plain and New Sarum (Salisbury) grew up around it, receiving a city charter in 1227. This is the Oak Court room within the Guildhall at Salisbury. The Oak Court was used as a Magistrates Court until 2010. It is a replica of the Old Bailey and designed on the diagonal for maximum capacity.
