Former egg packing premises, Palestine
Units such as this were, I understand, set up to provide a living for ex-combatants of the Great War. The building to the right looks as though it was a hen-house. The village has outlived its original philanthropic purpose and it is now just another dormitory village (the nearby railway station now doubt helps in this regard). The likelihood is that this site will soon be redeveloped for a new house.

Mayfield Eggs (as was) Palestine
Long since closed (it was probably too small to compete with the big producers) the plant awaits the bulldozers prior to redevelopment for residential use.
Update October 2008: the main building seen here has now gone. A rather attractive detached house is approaching completion here now http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1000211

Palestine: Bournemouth Road
Having passed on my right Peach Grove and Orange Grove, I was surprised that the next turning was named after a south coast town!

Mount Carmel Road, Palestine
The road in the title is just visible at the left at the base of the telegraph pole. It runs east in front of the houses in the background. The engineer is from BT. The house on the right is still under construction and a roofer can just be seen on the ridge. The house stands where the main building in this image stood last year http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/492601
