In the distance can be seen the outskirts of Hurstbourne Tarrant.

Minor road north of Hurstbourne Tarrant
This narrow lane diverges from the A343 at quite a shallow angle initially but in following the dry valley north towards Walbury Hill it passes several ancient field systems. The inference being that this might be an older route than the 'A' road?

Old Milestone near Prosperous Farm, Hurstbourne Tarrant
Carved stone post West of the A343, in parish of HURSTBOURNE TARRANT (TEST VALLEY District), near Prosperous Farm, by the UC road, on West side of road. Newbury waist, erected by the Andover & Chilton Pond turnpike trust in the 19th century.
Inscription reads:-

A343 passes the Texaco Garage
Contractors are engaged in putting a nice smooth surface on the pavement leading to the garage. Meanwhile the road surfaces resemble the surface of the moon after a meteor strike.

Netherton Road is a road between The Dene (Newbury Road) which is the route of the A343 and Combe Bottom, running from near to Hurstbourne Tarrant to West Berkshire.
To the left is a footpath which runs to Ibthorpe and the entrance to Fairway.
