Hatherden - Christ Church
This church was built between 1856 and 1857 and served as the village church until 8th July 1975 when it was struck by lightning and much of it was destroyed by a fire, only the bell tower, vestry, porch and the outer walls remained. The insurance didn't cover the cost of the repairs, so the villagers rallied together to raise the extra funds, 20 months later the new church was rededicated on Sunday 20th February 1977 at a ceremony led by the Bishop of Winchester.
