On the westbound carriageway of the A31(T), next to the Travelodge and Little Chef. Iseem to remember that this used to be a Q8 station but it was refurbished recently.

Stoney Cross: postbox now out of use
Detail of Image, which is set into the wall of the A31 services and has been blocked in the last year or so. There is another, for the use of the villagers but not handily placed for passing traffic, half a mile or so further along this westbound carriageway.

Little Chef and Travelodge at Stoney Cross
This building was in the 1950s the Compton Arms Hotel. Peter Twydell writes "It was owned by Leslie Hope, who lived in Milford on Sea. The manager and manageress were Frank Earle and his wife Bessie. Frank was my mother's brother, and Bessie was one of Leslie Hope's two daughters."
