This building was in the 1950s the Compton Arms Hotel. Peter Twydell writes "It was owned by Leslie Hope, who lived in Milford on Sea. The manager and manageress were Frank Earle and his wife Bessie. Frank was my mother's brother, and Bessie was one of Leslie Hope's two daughters."
