View towards Beaulieu from the north, New Forest
The view southeast from the northwest corner of the Mill Dam, alongside the road to Lyndhurst. At the other end of the millpond a set of sluice gates control the level of water - originally the pond provided a head of water for the mill at Beaulieu. The millpond and the tidal river beyond form part of a National Nature Reserve and a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).

Mill Dam
Looking from one of the upstairs windows on Palace House across Mill Dam, the dammed River Beaulieu. Water would have been let in at high tide then the sluices closed off as the tide fell, thus maintaining a head of water for milling on an otherwise slow flowing river.

Tucker Sno-Cat at Beaulieu 1962
I have no idea where it was sited on the museum site but the photo was taken not long after its return from Antarctica. This is Door code C named Haywire and now resides at the Science and Industry site at Wroughton. Three out of the four returned, this one to the UK, one to New Zealand and the third back to Tucker in the USA.

Tram Newcastle 102 at Beaulieu
Apparently Newcastle 102 was on display at Beaulieu between 1958 and 1967. It has since been moved to the tram museum at Crich. This is from the family photos of the contributor. The photograph was taken ca. 1965, the photographer died in 2001.
