The view southeast from the northwest corner of the Mill Dam, alongside the road to Lyndhurst. At the other end of the millpond a set of sluice gates control the level of water - originally the pond provided a head of water for the mill at Beaulieu. The millpond and the tidal river beyond form part of a National Nature Reserve and a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).
