Large conifer in grounds of New Forest District Council
Pretty impressive tree. I did not look at it closely but it has the appearance of a Wellingtonia.

New Forest District Council buildings, Lyndhurst
These are set well back from the road in a beautiful park of use only to those who visit the Council. I can't help wishing the planning department would allow others to build properties in similarly nice surroundings.

Boltons Bench, Lyndhurst, New Forest
Looking west at the spreading yew on top of the knoll at Boltons Bench, with the steeple of St Michael and All Angels church in the distance. The knoll is carpeted with a red-flowering grass.

View west from Boltons Bench, Lyndhurst, New Forest
The yew on top of the knoll at Boltons Bench is fenced off and surrounded, appropriately enough, with benches. The road in the shade is the B3056 to Beaulieu (left). The steeple belongs to the church of St Michael and All Angels in Lyndhurst and the white building on the hill is Northerwood House which has been converted from a mansion into apartment flats.

Beaulieu Road, Lyndhurst
Beaulieu Road is the B3056 road, linking the village of Lyndhurst with the village of Beaulieu. It passes through part of The New Forest. This image shows the road as it heads out of Lyndhurst.

View towards centre of Lyndhurst
The view from the open space on the East of the town. There is a cattle grid where the Beaulieu Road in the foreground meets the Southampton Road on the right (north), keeping the new forest ponies (mainly keeping out of the sun under the tree to the left) out of the town. The spire marks the location of the church which gives the town its Lewis Carroll obsession thanks to the grave of his inspiration, Alice Hargreaves, nee Liddel.

Last moments of sunlight at Bolton's Bench
After an overcast and rainy day, the sun dropped out of the cloud for around ten minutes before setting - just capturing the moment here at a deserted Bolton's Bench.

Bolton's Bench
A group of yews atop a mound. Sadly, the area enclosed by the fence surrounding the yews seems to be regarded by some as a very large litter bin.
